The Golden Isles of Georgia

The Georgia coast stretches approximately 100 miles from just north of Jacksonville, FL between the St. Mary's River and Savannah River. Most of the coastline remains untouched with only four of the thirteen Georgia barrier islands publicly accessible. These include Jekyll Island, St. Simons Island, Sea Island and Tybee Island. Brunswick and the Golden Isles receive little fishing pressure and it's proximity to Atlanta, Savannah and Jacksonville makes it an ideal fishing getaway.

Redfish

Redfish will readily strike bait, lures and flies. Their habit of tailing in shallow water and the schooling of bull reds at times in open water off beaches make them a favorite target of sight-casters. Reds hit hard and run strong, particularly in skinny water.

Tarpon

Considered one of the great saltwater game fishes. They are prized not only because of their great size, but also because of the fight they put up and their spectacular leaping ability.

Seatrout

Seatrout found inshore and nearshore in and around marsh flats, shorelines, deep holes and channels and above oyster bars. Spotted seatrout make excellent table fare.

The Company We Keep

Testimonials & Partners

“What a great time we had with Capt Greg. A super guy and guide. I have went out with several guides in the past all over the south and I would have to say Greg has been the best one I/ we have ever experienced. His attention to detail and willingness to change based on our needs and wants was first class. Greg will be one of those guides that I will absolutely use again and would recommend to any one that is looking to take a guided fishing trip no matter what your fishing ability might be. Greg thanks again for a great day on the water.”

Thomas Lawson

“Just spent a terrific morning catching #trout with Capt. Hildreth. I can't say enough good things about his ability, professionalism, and skills in the fish catching department. This is my second trip with Georgia Charter Fishing and I hope there will be many more. Catching fish with Greg has been the highlight of my #StSimonsIsland vacation.”

Richard Schulze, Jr

“My family and I have been vacationing, and fishing, in the Jekyll/St.Simons area for years and have worked with a number of different guides during that time. Five years ago the host of the television program Big Water Adventures was fishing reds with Greg Hildreth. When the program ended I called and booked my first trip with Georgia Charters and have been fishing with Greg ever since. He knows the waters in the area better than anyone else I've met. Whether we're looking for tarpon, sea trout, redfish, flounder, sharks, etc. Greg gets us on the fish. If conditions aren't favorable for a particular species he tells us ahead of time and redirects us to something else. On top of all that, he's a great guy and a pleasure to spend time with in a boat. If you plan to fish the Golden Isles, Greg is your man.”
